Unified Communications

I was going to hold this until I got my UC hardware phone, but things are just not lining up.  See my comments on Unified communications and some (degraded for recording) experiences with the RoundTable web camera at Show #4.

Frog Design helps Augmented Reality Visions

Instead of needing a huge motion capture studio to map people to shared realities, Frog Design is working on a mask to both convert the world you live in to one more to your liking (at least on the surface.)  It's a slightly different take on the world of "Rainbows End" but it also shows that there's a lot more interest in Augmented/Alternate Personal Realities than first meets the eye.

Take a look at Frog's vision here - http://www.frogdesign.com/news/frogconcept-a-digital-escape-05162008.html

Sorry for no "Where's Phil" this week.

I'll have to supplement it with "Where's Phil" for the weekend.  I'm at Startup Weekend today and Sunday, but I'll be presenting on Robotics Studio Saturday (tomorrow) morning, bight and early at 9.  I've worked on the Bluetooth strength, so the hardware should work fine and I promise not to run over Josh since he won't be in Austin this time!  The batteries will run out before the bot could get to him.

Also, I just found out that our new Houston Gaming and Media user group will be meeting next week in Houston - I'm going to be in the office doing a couple of events, so I'm going to try to stop by.  If you can be around the Microsoft Office in Houston next Thursday evening, check out the information on this month's meeting - http://hgmug.org/default.aspx

I'll take two of them

Video from the Maker Faire for the Wall-E automata.  http://gizmodo.com/search/wall_e  Evidently it's going to be $190 so that will probably bump back to just one (though I really would love to have a spare for replacement parts since I know I'll want to mod one.
